Experience Walk & Talk Therapy in Frederick Maryland. This unique approach allows you to enjoy the benefits of a traditional therapy session, while also taking in the beauty of nature and movement. It's a refreshing way to connect with oneself and work through challenges.
Walk & Talk therapy offers an opportunity to reduce stress, relieve body tension, improve circulation, breathe deep, and clear the body-mind of intrusive, negative, and ruminative thoughts and sensations. These sessions can help you decrease anxiety, regulate mood, enjoy more restful sleep, and more. In session, you can enhance insight, release body trauma and alter behavior patterns while verbally processing your authentic truth.
The only difference is that we conduct the session outdoors while walking together. Nothing else changes outside of that and wearing a pair of sneakers. Many clients share that the act of moving as we walk side by side helps to process areas of their life that may feel "stuck." Also, remember your comfy clothes and a water bottle!!
Walk & Talk therapy is not private like a virtual office allows. Before we begin our Walk & Talk therapy sessions, we will set boundaries for what to do if you see someone you know. I will never introduce myself as a therapist to anyone we encounter. If you want to say hello to someone you know, you can. If you’d prefer not to, then that is ok too. If you’d like to share who I am, then you can. If you aren’t comfortable with that, then I can merely be an acquaintance of yours out on a walk. How we handle this situation is determined by you.
Absolutely. Again, it is your choice to take the session outdoors for a Walk & Talk session or to remain inside the virtual office if that is what you prefer. I respect your choice and honor what feels best for you.
Great question! No. Walk & Talk sessions are slow to moderate walking, not running or even fast walking. There is nothing physically strenuous about the session. But will you feel better after a 50-minute walk? You bet you will.
It is your choice to make the ‘weather call.’ The virtual office is always an option, and I respect your choice. If you prefer to walk outside, I am not concerned about a few raindrops or sun rays.
Yes, in most cases. When and where we will meet, the length of our session and your dog's personality and temperament will be considered in determining which if any sessions are appropriate for your dog to attend.
