Walk & Talk FAQs

What is Walk & Talk Therapy?

What is Walk & Talk Therapy?

What is Walk & Talk Therapy?

Walk & Talk therapy gives you the chance to step outside the traditional therapy room and move your body while caring for your mind. Walking side by side creates space to reduce stress, ease tension, improve circulation, breathe deeply, and release the weight of intrusive or ruminative thoughts.

These sessions can support better mood regulation, lessen anxiety, improve sleep, and help you feel more connected to yourself. As you move, you have the opportunity to process openly, deepen insight, release stored body trauma, and shift unhelpful patterns while speaking your authentic truth.

How does this work?

What is Walk & Talk Therapy?

The only real difference between Walk & Talk therapy and a traditional session is that we take it outdoors. Instead of sitting across from each other, we walk side by side. Everything else about therapy remains the same, except you will want to wear a good pair of sneakers.

Many clients find that the simple act of moving helps them process parts of life that feel stuck. Walking together can ease stress, calm the body, improve mood, and open space for deeper insight and healing.

Remember to dress in comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle so you can fully focus on the conversation and the experience.

What about confidentiality?

Can I alternate week to week?

Unlike a virtual or office session, Walk & Talk therapy is held outdoors and is not fully private. Before we begin, we will set clear boundaries together about how to handle encounters with others.

I will never introduce myself as your therapist to anyone we meet. If you see someone you know, it is completely your choice whether to say hello or not. If you prefer, I can simply be an acquaintance walking with you. If you want to share who I am, you are welcome to, but you are never required to.

How we navigate these moments is always up to you, and your comfort will guide the process.

Can I alternate week to week?

Whether you choose a Walk & Talk session, the virtual office, or in-person office therapy, the choice is always yours. Some days you may feel like moving, other days you may want the privacy of an office or the convenience of online. I respect your decision and will support what feels best for you each time we meet.

Is this a cardio workout or personal training?

Great question! No. Walk & Talk sessions are slow to moderate walking, not running or even fast walking. There is nothing physically strenuous about the session. But will you feel better after a 53-minute walk? You bet you will.

What about inclement weather?

Is this a cardio workout or personal training?

It is always your choice to make the weather call. The virtual office is available at any time, and I respect whatever feels right for you. If you prefer to walk outside, know that I am not concerned about a few raindrops or extra sunshine. We can adjust as needed so you feel comfortable and supported.

CAN I BRING MY DOG TO OUR WALK & TALK SESSION?

Yes, in most cases. When and where we will meet, the length of our session and your dog's personality and temperament will be considered in determining which if any sessions are appropriate for your dog to attend.
