Ashley Pereira MSW Intern

Hi I am Ashley–

What’s therapy with me like?

I love analogies! Here’s my first one for you: therapy with me is like a journey guided by you as we cross the unique terrain of your experiences. Perhaps we will climb the mountains of anxiety or stress, we may find ourselves wading through the murky waters of uncertainty and change, or we may descend into the valleys of guilt and sorrow. It is my goal to accompany you on this therapeutic journey, carrying my pack filled

I always seek to be authentic, honest, kind, and helpful. I am here to listen, hold space, and utilize my knowledge of evidence-based interventions to confront the challenges that life brings. Some of the modalities I will use include Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Therapy with me is to be seen, to be heard, and to be supported.

Who do I work with?  I work with individuals of all ages and identities, and I have experience supporting people facing severe and persistent mental health challenges.

My impacting identities are… I am a cisgender, neurodivergent wife and mother of two. My own life challenges have shaped me into a deeply compassionate and empathetic person. Spirituality is an important part of my life, and I find meaning in the belief that everything happens for a reason. I love noticing the small miracles of daily life, and it is my greatest hope to support each client in their healing and thriving.

I feel allied/aware/part of/informed/knowledgeable about… I allied/aware/informed/knowledgeable with survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence, and systemic oppression, as well as with mothers, parents, and the LGBTQ+ community.

What makes me unique?

I am fluent in Spanish, and I am a hairstylist! The latter being funny due to the similarities to therapy and having your hair done. I am comfortable and familiar with Latinx culture.

Did You know... I mentioned this above, but it deserves a second mention; I believe that everyting happens for a reason! It is truly a miracle to meet you! Of all the people who live and have lived on this earth, our two paths crossed.

Any Pets? I have a sweet puppy named Bailey. Well… she’s ten years old, but she will always be a puppy in my eyes!

My favorite hobbies… I enjoy reading, running, cooking, eating, and spending time with my family. I would love to claim a crafty hobby like crochet, knititng, quilting, scrapbooking, or something of that sor

Why work with an intern?

Our interns are not currently in-network with insurance providers, which allows them to offer services either pro bono (at no cost) or on a sliding scale basis. Typically, sliding scale rates for sessions with our interns range from $30 to $80, offering a more affordable alternative to the $195-$220 out-of-pocket cost for sessions with a licensed clinician.

Interns receive close supervision from seasoned, licensed clinicians, offering you the expertise of not just one, but two professionals working together. A key role of the supervisor is to ensure that interns work within their scope of competence, carefully overseeing each case to guarantee high-quality care at every stage. We take great care in matching interns with supervisors who not only support them but also help amplify their professional voice, drawing from the supervisor’s extensive experience.

Field experience is undeniably valuable, but we also highly appreciate the new perspectives that interns bring. As they transition from years of study to real-world work, their enthusiasm is often infectious and brings a renewed energy to the team.
