We need your help to make a difference in getting the Social Work Compact across the finish line during the 2025 legislative session. By participating in our advocacy letter writing campaign, you can directly influence our legislators and support the passage of the Compact.
Instructions:
- Review the Attached Letter:
- Open the attached advocacy letter template.
- Be sure to edit the highlighted fields with your information.
- If you like, personalize it with your own experiences and perspectives to make it more impactful.
- Address Your Legislators: At this stage, we are only targeting the legislators on the Committees that will hear the bill. See List Below.
- Send Your Email:
- Copy and past the legislator’s email addresses into your email message. Try sending a separate email for the House Committee, and Senate Committee to avoid bounce backs/undeliverable messages.
- Copy and paste the edited letter into your email.
- Craft a compelling subject line that includes both "support" and "Social Work Compact," such as "Support Needed for Social Work Compact." This ensures that even if legislators only see the subject line, your message will still make an impact.
- Send the email.
- What to expect/Follow Up:
- Don't worry if you don't receive a response. Legislators receive numerous emails daily and often have limited staff during non-session times, making it difficult to reply to everyone. What truly matters is that they see an inbox filled with subject lines requesting their support for passing the Social Work Compact.
- If you receive a response, be sure to follow up and continue the conversation.
- Share any feedback or responses with our team (my contact information is below).
- Tips for Effective Advocacy:
- Feel free to share this email message and letter template broadly among your networks!
- Be concise.
- Share personal stories or experiences related to the issue.
- Express gratitude for the legislator's time and consideration.
- Your participation is crucial in passing the Compact. Thank you for your dedication and support!
